Wallace Meyaski Secures Seven-Figure Settlement in Construction Case

September 3, 2024

Through Wallace Meyaski's investigation and its work with highly-respected construction experts, partners Todd Wallace and Stacey Meyaski were able to successfully negotiate a seven-figure settlement on behalf of the homeowners in a highly contentious construction litigation matter brought under Louisiana’s New Home Warranty Act (“NHWA”). The NHWA provides remedies to homeowners for various construction defects once the new home construction is complete and occupied. See La. R.S. 9:3141 et seq.  While such protections can prove crucial to a homeowner’s ability to remedy defects that appear in their home, the NHWA establishes strict guidelines, including time constraints, that must be followed for the protections to apply. Each specific claim should be considered under its own facts. To do so, homeowners should consult with experienced legal counsel on such matters. When timely action is taken, homeowners can hold accountable those contractors, subcontractors, and architects who have failed to properly perform their obligations.
